Shortcuts

Internet Explorer supports viewing in full-screen mode without toolbars or other elements which take up valuable space.

In this mode, theTVscreen looks just great.

To have this, you need a shortcut on your desktop which will start theTVscreen in what is called "The Kiosk mode".

The easiest way to do this is to download the shortcut file from us and save it on your desktop by clicking here.

If you have any problems downloading and saving the file to the desktop, or if you use Mozilla FireFox, please click here.

Tip:
More experienced computer users can create the shortcut themselves. Copy and paste the following text into a newly created desktop shortcut (don't forget the leading " ):
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE" -k http://theTVscreen.com

If you have a slow Internet connection, you may prefer to load theTVscreen in a slower download mode.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is TV over Internet
Also known as Online TV, it is a new generation of TV transmission technology allowing viewers to connect from anywhere in the world. The content is specially designed for the web and sometimes differs from conventional broadcasts from the same station.

How many channels are out there
Thousands of TV stations have already decided to broadcast over the Interenet. They are broadcasting at ever higher speeds, so this is just the beginning.

What is the future of TV over Internet
TV over Internet is gathering more and more momentum. It is a powerful means to reach millions of people, and it is here to stay.

Will it replace conventional TV
No, it will only complement it, just like online news complements traditional newspapers.

Does it matter which browser I use for theTVscreen
You can currently view theTVscreen using Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. We are making great efforts to extend availability to other browsers.

The "Buffering" takes too long for some channels
Some stations transmit their content at high bandwith. Although your connection may also be high-bandwith, if there are plenty of viewers of that same channel, the station may not be able to deliver content to all the viewers at the same time because it is using its whole bandwith.
For instance, if the streaming speed is 1000 Kilo-bit/sec and if there are 1000 users at the same time, the station has to transmit at a rate of 1 Giga-bit/sec which may exceed the station's connection speed. Some stations indeed use "automatic speed scaling" to adjust their transmission speed, many are still upgrading.

There is a long delay from when I press Stop until I get back to the menu again
This is an aspect of Windows Media Player, which sometimes takes longer to disconnect from the channel source. Windows Media Player has to ensure that the station stops sending you content in order to preserve your bandwith.

The scroll-bar disappears when I am using theTVscreen in F11 mode
This is a limitation of the underlying Operating System (Windows).
You can instead try to start theTVscreen in full-screen mode.
For more info, see the Preferences/Shortcuts section.
